Recently I was reading a collab over on The Stylish Dreamer and My Bookish Life‘s blogs. And they did a post called The Ultimate Harry Potter Collab! where they were talking about Pottermore. (Also definitely check out their posts, they are absolutely amazing and their writing is just so good!)
And this gave me the idea of creating a somewhat similar post.
As some of you know I am obsessed with Harry Potter! I love the books (and films) so much! Erm… even though I haven’t read all the books….I know this is a terrible crime to commit as a Harry Potter fan but I am reading them all (actually my Dad is going to get them so that my brother and I can read the books…(I have seen all the films though!))
Anyway I am going to share my Pottermore results and I hope you enjoy!
I am really pleased with my house and I think the quiz couldn’t have been more accurate!
So I was sorted into…… Ravenclaw!
Here are a few facts about Ravenclaw (all are taken from Pottermore):
- The arched windows set into the walls of the circular common room look down at the school grounds: the lake, the Forbidden Forest, the Quidditch pitch and the Herbology gardens. No other house in the school has such stunning views.
- The door to Ravenclaw’s common room lies at the top of a tall, winding staircase. It has no handle, but an enchanted bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle. When you rap on the door, this knocker will ask you a question, and if you can answer it correctly, you are allowed in. This simple barrier has kept out everyone but Ravenclaws for nearly a thousand years.
- The house ghost is the Grey Lady.
Ravenclaw also prizes wit, learning, and wisdom. It’s an ethos etched into founder Rowena Ravenclaw’s diadem: ‘wit beyond measure is man’s greatest treasure’.
If some of you are confused on what a Patronus is, I’ll explain; (and yes, this is the Pottermore definition, I’m not taking credit😉)
*Warning there is a spoiler*
The Patronus is an advanced form of magic, which even the most qualified wizards can struggle with. Harry Potter is one of the youngest wizards to cast a corporeal Patronus, having been taught by Professor Lupin at the young age of thirteen.
As Professor Lupin tells Harry in Prisoner of Azkaban, the Patronus is ‘a kind of Anti-Dementor – a guardian which acts as a shield between you and the Dementor.’ It’s also ‘a kind of positive force, a projection of the very things that the Dementor feeds upon – hope, happiness, the desire to survive – but it cannot feel despair, as real humans can, so the Dementors can’t hurt it.’
The Patronus can take two forms; non-corporeal and corporeal (but I’m not going into detail).
Each Patronus is unique to the witch or wizard who conjures it, and it’s possible, in some cases, for a Patronus to change.
So I did the test and my Patronus is…. a Calico Cat!
I love cats so I was pretty happy with it. Also can I take a moment to say how COOL this test was?! The graphics and music on this is just SO good!! Definitely my favourite quiz out of all!
My Ilvermorny House:
I really like Thunderbird and the fact that witches and wizards in this house favour adventure is perfect! I can relate to this so much! But I still have to say I’m a Ravenclaw at heart. Although Fantastic Beast is really good.
This is the wand I got and as with all the other results I really like it. And…..I don’t know what to add apart from that!
And those were my results! Pottermore is a great website if you love Harry Potter and want to learn more about it! I definitely recommend it!!! There are so many topics you can read about and sometimes you can take quizzes (in the Christmas period there was a quiz on Christmas at Hogwarts, I didn’t do it because I was in Germany and it took to much wifi bandwidth. But it looked really cool!)
I know this is kind of a different post, but I LOVED writing it! As I have already said definitely check out Pottermore (link is here).
Also quick note; I am going skiing for a week with my class and there is going to be NO source of wifi so I won’t be active for a week. But I have a few posts stored in the meantime.
XOXO, Rosie <3
